It will not end there, it will take you to the edge of the great rift valley where you can descend to the base of the escarpment wall right on the foot of the active volcanoes in the world, Mountain Ol Doinyo Lengai.This walking safari is a unique chance for those who love walking and hiking adventures, it is very good if your hike will end on the Engare Sero with great view of the Oldonyo Lengai 'Mount of God', Lake Natron and the Rift Valley.
ITINERARY FOR 3 DAYS HIKING
Day 1: Nainokanoka Village
In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and you will travel on a good tar road to the village of Mto wa Mbu with the escarpment of the Great Rift Valley towering up ahead. From a viewpoint above the town, you will see the Masai plains stretch to the horizon with the alkaline Lake Manyara down below. A short drive further and you will reach the gate of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey continues along the scenic crater road, to the Masai village of Nainokanoka. While the camp is being set up, you will hike to the rim of the Olmoti Crater during the afternoon. There is also a possibility to visit a small waterfall along the way. Dinner will be served at the camp. Depending on the time of year, it might be cold (the camp is at an altitude of 2,650 m).
Day 2: Nainokanoka Village – Mulkat Village.
After breakfast with picnic lunch boxes, load your donkeys begin your journey with Maasai worrier escorts with armed Ranger to Elbulbul depression one of the huge depression in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight at the Bush camp at Mulkat Village on the depression 5-7 hours walk.
Day 3: Mulkat Village – Empakai Crater.
Depart Mulkat Village after breakfast and follow Maasai cattle trails towards Empakaai crater, reaching the lightly wooded crater rim on its southern edge, which normally takes 7 – 8 hours. Almost half the floor of the 6km wide, 300m high Empakaai crater is taken up by a deep soda lake. Blue monkey, buffalo, and bushbuck are likely to be seen on the rim, which boasts good views of Lengai Volcano, Kilimanjaro and Lake Natron. The crater floor is On your way downwards to the lake, you might see buffaloes or bushbucks, blue monkeys, many birds (like sunbirds and turacos). At the shore of the lake are often waterbucks and elands. It is a joy to walk around the lake shore, experiencing the serenity and quiet beauty of this wild spot. home to a variety of antelope and water birds. Around lunchtime, you will reach the waiting vehicle and your driver will take you back to Moshi. You will be taken to your hotel.
Notes: All walks must be accompanied by an armed ranger from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority. Although the risk of coming into contact with a dangerous, large animal is not very great, it is a law that you are accompanied by a ranger, just in case! In order to ensure the availability of a ranger, it is preferable to book walks in advance
